Moises Caicedo has admitted he is desperate to join Chelsea saying he “couldn’t say no” to the Blues while describing them as a “beautiful team”.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side are currently negotiating a £100m deal for the Brighton midfielder, with the Seagulls settling for that price.

The 21-year-old had previously tried to force a move to Arsenal back in January, and admitted losing in the move was ‘difficult’.

But he is now close to moving to London rivals Chelsea, and is talking about a possible move, and the Ecuadorian has admitted that he is keen to join the Blues.

“It’s a big team, that’s right,” Caicedo told La Cancha Con Majo.

“A very historic team and I can’t say no because it’s a great team, very historical and beautiful. The city is also beautiful.

Brighton were keen to protect one of their best assets last January, and rejected offers of £70m from Mikel Arteta, before imposing a new contract on him until 2027, in a bid to ensure they got the best possible price for him. He left.

And while there has been a lot of chatter about his future at the south coast club, he has remained fairly quiet about the situation, adding: ‘It feels absolutely fantastic. What man wouldn’t want them to talk about?

I know how to deal with it. I don’t get carried away with emotions. I am enjoying my time with my family at the moment. There is pressure, but I’m calm.

I am waiting for what God decides. He will know what is best for me.

Caicedo joined Brighton for £4.5m in January 2021 on a three-year deal and if they sell him at the current asking price they are set to make a massive return of over £95m in earnings on the promising talent.

This season, he has featured in all but one of Brighton’s Premier League matches, scoring once and providing one assist.

Caicedo attempted a move to Arsenal in January and Mikel Arteta’s side (pictured) had several bids of around £70m turned down by Seguls, but Caicedo admitted he was grateful to his current club for ‘opening the door’ for him.

While he helped Brighton qualify for the Europa League for the first time in the club’s history, he was grateful to De Zerby’s side for giving him a chance in the Premier League.

He said: “They opened the door for me in the Premier League, I’m so happy to be there, all the moments I shared there I will always carry with me.

“The truth is, this has been a dream year for me. By the grace of God, I have achieved so many things and I am so happy to be doing what I love so much at such a high level, and that people are talking about me so highly.

“So this is something very, very beautiful, something I dreamed about and now I am living it.”
