On September 17, 2022, the state of Oregon plans to move its home game against Montana State from Reser Stadium to Portlands Providence Park.
Beavers have played in Portland for the first time since 1986.
Oregon State Sports Director Scott Barnes said he sees an opportunity to move to the 2022 game due to a construction project on the west side of Reser Stadium. The beavers will play seven home games in 2022.
Construction will begin after the end of the 2021 football season, and completion will be completed by the spring of 2023. Construction will stop during the 2022 season, but most, if not all, of West’s resers won’t tend to be fans.
Excluding the west side, Reser Stadium will have nearly 33,000 seats. Season 2022 is the only scheduled year to be affected by construction.
Providence Park seats are expected to be close to the current 25,218 seats.
We have such a large alumni base in Portland that we think this is a great opportunity for our university to engage our alumni, Barnes said.
The details of the game and the party are in the planning stage. Game time in the state of Montana in the state of Oregon will be determined early next summer when the Pac-12 announces television times.
In the states of Oregon, the last appearance in Portland was in 1986, when Beavers lost to UCLA 49-0 on November 1st. OSU also played in Portland in 1984 and 1985, both conference games.
Beavers played regularly in Portland in the 1960s and 1970s.
