“It’s great to be back with so many loyal patriots of Faith and Freedom and the path to the majority,” Pence said to applause at the Faith and Freedom Alliance summit before the harassment began.
“I’m Christian, conservative, and Republican, in that order,” Pence continued, as teasers in the audience began to grow, yelling “traitor.”
Some interrupters were reportedly removed from the event as Pence continued his speech.
The incident exposes the divisions that remain in the Republican Party during the 2020 presidential election.

No evidence has been presented to lend credibility to these claims.
These statements played a role in inciting the rebellion on January 6, as participants in a pro-Trump rally stormed the Capitol in a failed attempt to stop Congress’ ratification of the election results. Pence, who had been overseeing the proceedings as Vice President, was taken to safety as some in the crowd called for his execution.
Since then, Pence has become a target of Trump supporters for his role in the Electoral College’s testimony, something the former vice president himself acknowledged in a speech in New Hampshire earlier this month.
“As you know, President Trump and I have spoken many times since we left office,” Pence said. “And I don’t know if we will meet face to face that day. But I will always be proud of what we have accomplished for the American people over the past four years.”
Hostility toward Pence among some of the Republican Party’s grassroots may pose an electoral obstacle for Pence, who is widely believed to be considering his own White House campaign in 2024.
