Carlos Raul Maslup (January 9, 1959 to August 23, 2007) was an Argentine para table tennis player who competed in international elite competitions. He was the champion of Pan American singles, a bronze medalist at the Parapan American Games in the men’s singles and competed in the 2004 Summer Paralympics. He was also a Paralympic swimmer and Paralympic athlete at the 1988 Summer Paralympics, where he won three silver medals and one bronze medal.[1][2]
At the 2007 Parapan-American Games in Rio de Janeiro, Maslup competed in his other Parapan-American games and won a bronze medal in the men’s doubles class 1. Maslup had a stroke at the hotel on To Filho Hospital. Maslup was in a coma for three days and was diagnosed with brain death by hospital doctors on August 22 and died on August 23 at the intensive care unit at Salgado Filho Hospital.[3][4]
