Wilcher will become the subway station’s second-most high school head football coach, moving into the ranks of the university. He joins Ron Bellamy, who took a job in Michigan due to the West Bloomfield Division 1 championships last January.

Wilcher, a former Michigan who worked in the mid-1980s, said in 2013 he was interested in coaching college football.

I’ve been thinking about it, yes, I’d be interested in coaching in college, “Wilcher said then. I’ve been a head coach here at Cass Tech for 16 years and I love what I do, but there are times when I think I need a different challenge.”
