Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office
PINELLAS COUNTY, Fla. (WFLA) – A former deputy in the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office has been arrested after making false allegations against Sheriff Bob Gualtieri.
Kenneth Kimberlin, 49, has been repeatedly accused of making a false report to the Florida Child Abuse Hotline in recent weeks, according to the sheriff’s office.
MPs say Kimberlin was found in Tampa on Wednesday and was arrested on a warrant. He is currently in the Hillsborough County Jail and will be transferred to Pinellas County Jail on Thursday.
After his arrest, detectives said Kimberlin admitted there was no factual basis for the allegations against the sheriff.

Kimberlin resigned from the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office in 2011. He was hired for a short time by the Largo Police Department, but separated from his job.
Since leaving law enforcement, MPs say Kimberlin has been arrested several times and suffers from serious addiction and mental health issues.
During a preliminary investigation, the sheriff’s office said Kimberlin made threats against other people in Tampa Bay, including similar false allegations he made against Sheriff Gualtieri.
This continues to be an active investigation and additional charges are pending.
