Gators Garner All ITA Academic Awards for the 11th straight season

GAINESVILLE, Fla. 11th-consecutive season The University of Florida women’s tennis team earned the ITA All-Academic Team Award when the organization released a list of 2021 awards on Monday morning.

In addition, the parent McCartney Kessler was named ITA All-Academic Scholar, which garnered recognition for its fourth straight year.

The ITA All-Academic Team Award is open to all ITA programs with a cumulative team grade point average of at least 3.20 (on a scale of 4.00). All university letter winners were included in the cumulative team GPA group for the current academic year (including Fall 2020 and Spring 2021).

During the year, the Gators achieved a 3.3 GPA as a team, which included 3.4 chips in the spring semester.

The 2020-21 team marks UF’s 16th coach Roland Thornqvist earn ITA All-Academic Team honors. Thornqvist, which was recently completed on the 20thth campaign with the Gators, has now coached 26 athletes to 51 ITA Researcher-Athlete titles.

To earn ITA Scholar-Athlete events, a student-athlete must maintain an average of at least 3.50 (on a scale of 4.00) and earn a college letter and have enrolled in their current institution for at least two semesters.

Kessler and four of his teammates, majoring in health education and behavior, were recognized as SEC Academic Honor Roll selections for the spring term last month.
