Two Colquitt players won the Titles as the first tennis event | Local sports

The MOULTRIE Georgia Recreation and Park Associates District III tennis tournament began on Monday with high hopes of sunshine.

Matches began at 8:30 a.m. at the Lynda Baxter Moseley tennis complex, and 16 matches were completed before the lightning storms came at about 2 p.m.

The rest of the days the matches were postponed and run on Tuesday at 9am.

Three divisions were completed on Monday as Moultries Jacob Icard and Ava McCranie won the doubles.

Camillas Brooks Tucker had his second championship on Mondays.

In the 18 boys ’association, Icard won the first-round match against Camillas Jacob Workman, 6-0, 6-0.

Icard took the title with a victory in the 6-1 final, 6-1 final against Camillas Taylen Harris, who got the first round goodbye.

In the 16 boys final, Tucker defeated Colquitt County’s Mark Breedlove 6-0, 6-1.

Colquitt Countys Odessa Dixon won the first round match against Camillas Alyssa Howell 6-2, 6-2 in 16 girls ’singles.

Camillas Hannah Glass also beat Camilla’s Laney Williams 6-4, 6-0 in the second round of the first round.

In the first round of 14 boys doubles, Colquitt Countys Parker Anderson defeated Camillan Frederick Lanier 6-3, 7-6; Jack Taunton of Colquitt County defeated Camillas Andrew Ward 6-2, 6-2; and Colquitt Countys Bailee Fountain defeated Camillas Lee Williamson 6-4, 6-1.

In the second round matches, Taunton defeated Anderson 6-1, 6-0, and Colquitt County Wesley Montgomery defeated Fountain 6-4, 6-1.

Colquitt CountysShelly Azar won the 18-girl pair match with Camillas Mary Simmons 6-0, 6-0.

In the final, McCranie defeated Azar 6-1, 6-1.

In one of 14 All-Colquitt County girls ’singles, Emily Lampman defeated Arlin Smith 6-0, 6-0.

In the second match of the first round, Colquitt Countys Ada Craft defeated Albanys Shivani Yadavall 6-0, 6-0.

In ten girls and boys doubles, Jackson Lasseter and Scarlett Allegood, both from ColquittCounty, played a practice match because they had no competition and won a medal.

Harrison Lampman and Julia Costin also played a practice match in 12 boys and girls doubles.

The top four finalists in each age group will advance to the GRPA State Tournament on 20-22. July also at Moultrie at both the Lynda Baxter Moseley tennis complex and the Packer Park courts.
