WEATHERFORD Donald Trump Jr. supporters. was more than the number of detractors of 10 to one at a book signing on Friday at Film Alley.

Nearly 100 supporters lined up on the right side of the entrance, enduring all day and no shade for more than an hour while waiting for the doors to open. On the left side of the entrance, a dozen protesters stood behind a barricade and waved signs and shouted at the crowd at Trump.

J Scott Utley, Parker’s Republican County chairman, praised the good turnout.

Joe Wilkinson, precinct chairman, said Trump’s appearance would raise money for the political party and put “Weatherford and Parker County on the map from a Republican perspective.

The signing is set to begin at 11, and Trump showed the right time with girlfriend Kimberly Guilfoyle. They spent a few minutes greeting and posing for photos with Republican Party volunteers before allowing paying guests to enter.

Trump was wearing dress slacks, a white buttoned shirt and a suit jacket but no tie. His green camouflaged sneaker shoes stood out against the dark suit. Guilfoyle, the former FOX News personality became chairman of Trump’s campaign finance, wearing a tight gray knee-length dress.

Everyone says MAGA, someone said while taking pictures of Trump and the volunteers.

After the volunteers returned to their duties, Trump sat at a table to wait for the crowd to enter. He began autographing copies of his own published Liberal Privilege: Joe Biden and the Democrats Defense of the Indefensible. After signing a hed of a book, Guilfoyle puts it in a stack.

Is it OK if I take some photos? I asked.

Of course, he said.

After snapping a few photos, I asked him what he thinks about Weatherford right now.

So far very well, Trump said.

Great Republican province, Guilfoyle said.

Trump plans to spend the next hour or more signing books and talking before heading to another book stop at the Metroplex.

Trump’s book sales will help fund the Republican Party.

Outside, the man waiting first in line refused to be interviewed for this article. Another man behind him refused to be interviewed but pointed to a man wearing a suit and tied up nearby and said, He will talk to you.

Paul Belew was happy to talk. The Wise County defense attorney announced plans to run for governor as a Republican and waited in line for nearly an hour with his campaign manager. They have a $ 50 down payment for autographed books.

We wanted to hear him speak, Belew said.

Most of the people lined up were older, but the three teenagers stood with their mother, ready to meet the former president’s son.

I thought it was a good idea to go here and support him, said Nolan Graft, a 16-year-old Granbury resident. He’s a good man, and he does good things, unlike Biden, who makes this country stand out.

Graft and his siblings are old enough to vote but attend political events to try to make a difference in the world. Their mother, Melanie Graft, is vice chairman of the election for the Hood County GOP.

We raised them to be aware of politics and the true history of our country and to get involved but also to make decisions for themselves, he said.

As I was leaving the event, I passed a Trump trailer in the parking lot covered with campaign posters and flags and played one of the president’s former statements to a speaker. Trumps familiar voice exploded with radical Democrats, but no one around heard the message. Everyone is waiting to get in and get an autographed book and maybe say a few words to his oldest son, who is rumored to have his own political ambitions.

People on the right side of the entrance expressed admiration for the younger Trump. The protesters on the left, led by Weatherford resident Amy Hull, were fans of the father, his eldest son or the family in general. Hull is holding a sign that says, Trumps are Trash.

Hull and most of his fellow protesters were members of Parker County Progressives, an advocate for social development. They were involved in numerous protests against the Confederate statue on the lawn of the county courthouse.

We are here to protest Donald Trump Jr.’s book signing event. and the people here, he said. Accustomed to being up the lawhouse lawn where things fall on us and all sorts of things are told to us, so it’s not yet lively. It doesn’t exist.

While talking, someone in line saw what Trump said on the tattoo and stabbed Hull as if he were a Neanderthal. He threw it out right away, but both sides remained civil to each other for the most part.

Our main goal is to get more support and eventually lose office some of these Republicans in Weatherford and Parker County, Hull said. Not all Republicans say. Is not looking to make the whole province Democratic but needs a bit of balance because, for now, what we have is the good ol boy system.
