Recycled mask wedding gown highlights the return of the ceremony

Excessive sanitary equipment has been given a new lease of life to raise awareness of the growing pile of rubbish made up of unwanted face coverings, as well as inviting couples to take to the aisles in style now that weddings and receptions are back in the UK.

The campaign from W Communications claims that around 100 million single-use surgical masks are disposed of in the UK each week during the pandemic, most of which end up in landfills.

Directing a small part of this, Hitched aims to bring the matter to the attention of the public, while also encouraging couples to take advantage of easing restrictions to strengthen their partnership in style.

Hitched editor Sarah Allard said: Very excited that marriage will be back in the UK without legal restrictions. With thousands of weddings set to take place this summer, couples can now look forward to the reopening of dance floors, standing drink receptions, and photos of smiling faces with the lifting of PPE restrictions.

However, we can’t ignore the trash problem that the pandemic has created, and now that the guidelines on masks at weddings have finally changed, we wanted to create a garment that not only symbolizes how far the two of us have come as a united industry. and as a nation, but also make good use of those unused masks.

While masks are no longer a legal requirement, we encourage couples, guests and suppliers to judge on the wedding day, but we can’t wait to see the fun dancing, hugs and reunions once again.
