Tennis Programs, 19 Student Athletes Earn ITA All-Academic Awards

The Intercollegiate Tennis Association announced 2021 Division III men’s and women’s ITA research athletes and all academic groups. Academia is a central part of the college tennis experience. Collegiate tennis players add to the rich intellectual communities found on university campuses across the country.

Student-athletes continue to exceed expectations in the classroom and on the field. In 2021, 772 Division III male student athletes were named ITA Research Athlete and 111 men’s tennis programs were awarded the All-Academic Team Award. On the women’s side, 1,048 Division III female women students were named ITA Research Athletes and 144 women’s tennis practice was awarded the All-Academic Team Award.

Appointment as an ITA Research Athlete must meet the following requirements:

• you will have a minimum of 3.5 (on a 4.00 scale) grade points for the current academic year
• must be listed on the institutional eligibility form

To be designated an ITA All-Academic Team, programs must meet the following requirements:

• the average score of the team is at least 3.2 (on a scale of 4.00),
• all student athletes involved must be listed on the Institutional Eligibility Form
• all winners of university letters should be included in the cumulative GPA group for the current academic year

Both Ithaca College programs were recognized on this year’s academic teams, while 19 student-athletes deserved the distinction.
