TENNIS IN ALL REGIONS: Riverbend Serves Youth with Wexler and Changi | High school

Wexler didn’t succeed so far that he failed to draw Colgans Matthew Stato in the regional semifinals. He only managed one match away from a potential state champion who was also a freshman. It was a huge step in the race after Wexler was rarely challenged in the district.

If opponents hoped Wexler might lose interest when 60, 60 wins pile up, it went out the window when it became clear he could go to the circuit without losing the game.

At first I didn’t think about it, he admitted. But with five or six matches, I realized I haven’t lost the game yet. That’s when I kind of scored it.

Wexler first took the club at the age of 7 at the urging of his father, Brian, a former high school player. He was 101 in both singles and doubles.

I think they were probably the two best players I’ve coached, said Garr, a veteran of three decades. No. 1 [Wexler] was by far the best. He is so consistent. She is a really smart kid freshman. He is almost certainly a Division I player.

Thanks to their success, the Mid-Atlantic Tennis Association’s youth district of Wexler, Chang, Catullo and Jani were announced before their first high school service, All have three more eligibility periods, and plans are even bigger.
