FCA relaxes rules to give flexibility to major SPAC deals

Law360, London (July 27, 2021, 3:05pm BST) — The UK market regulator on Tuesday changed rules to allow companies that make special purchases that have raised at least £100 million ($140 million) a removing security that is unpopular with investors in a move to entice companies to seek listings in London.

The Financial Conduct Authority said it has updated UK listing rules to make it easier for so-called SPACs to float on the London Stock Exchange. The “blank check companies” were created to raise capital during an IPO and then acquire an existing company that wants an alternative way to get listed on an exchange….
