Lake Charles, LA (KPLC) — The Louisiana Department of Health reports a statewide drop in hospitalizations for COVID-19 by more than 160.
As for region 5, the LDH reports a slight decrease in hospitalizations due to COVID-19.
The latest update from the LDH also reports 59 new COVID-19 deaths in the state and 6 new COVID-19 deaths in Region 5. Two new deaths have also been reported for Vernon Parish, part of Region 6.
The LDH reports that those not fully vaccinated in the state were responsible for 89% of cases from August 5 to August 11 and 80% of deaths from August 5 to August 11.
Monday updates include all data collected since Friday, the LDH said.

2,838 patients admitted to hospital (161 fewer than previous update).
91% of current COVID hospitalizations are those that are not fully vaccinated.
