McDonald’s has hired Petco CMO Tariq Hassan as Chief Marketing and Digital Customer Experience Officer for McDonald’s US, filling the role of Morgan Flatley, one of three executives promoted within the restaurant giant’s marketing and international leadership ranks.
Paul Pomroy, CEO of McDonald’s UK and Ireland division, will take over as Corporate Senior VP of International Operated Markets, a position created with the recent promotion of Manu Steijaert. Alistair Macrow, McDonald’s global chief marketing officer, will take over from Pomroy. And Flatley, the current Chief Marketing and Digital Customer Experience Officer for McDonald’s US, is being promoted to global CMO.
The internal appointments will take effect on November 1. Hassan will join McDonald’s on September 27, fill the position vacant by Flatley and become the latest outside employee to lead Golden Arches marketing in the US.

Flatley, one of the leaders behind the US division’s move to hire Wieden & Kennedy New York as the leading creative agency in 2019, says she has no plans at this time to review global agencies.
