Maryland 50th lowest in COVID positivity, case rates, says Hogan – CBS Baltimore

ANNAPOLIS, Md. (WJZ) — As students head back to the classroom, we’re still seeing a spike in new COVID cases, but Governor Larry Hogan said Maryland’s fight against this virus is one of the best in the country.

He shared a map from Global Epidemics showing that our state is only one of nine with an orange risk level. He attributed the good news to the state’s data-driven response.

“We’re very pleased to be in 50th place nationwide as of yesterday, out of all states, in positivity rate and case count, so we can’t do much better than that,” he said.

More people are rolling up their sleeves when it comes to vaccines, including teenagers.

Maryland is approaching 70 percent of 12- to 17-year-olds who have at least one injection. That is the third highest percentage in the country.
