Go Fashion Stocks Make a Great Debut, Lists at 90% Premium

Shares of leading women’s underwear brand Go Fashion made a strong debut on Dalal Street on Tuesday when its scrip was quoted at Rs 1,316 on BSE, a 90.72 percent premium over its price of Rs 690. Shares of the company were quoted at Rs 1,310 on the National Stock Exchange (NSE), 89.86 percent premium over the given issue price.

At the opening, the market has recovered today. Whether it’s a short cover or a dead cat bounce is yet to be determined. The markets are still in negative territory and unless we don’t close above 17,500 on the Nifty, the short term trend is not going to change.

SGX Nifty signals a positive start

Handy futures on the Singapore Exchange traded 36 points, or 0.21 percent, higher at 17,126.50, indicating Dalal Street was off to a positive start on Tuesday.

Tech View: Handy Resistor at 17,150

Nifty50 traded broadly on Monday, eventually forming an indecisive Doji Cross on the daily chart. During the day, the index witnessed selling pressure at 100-day EMA and while the NSE barometer eventually gained for the day, the broader market size remained weak. Analysts see immediate resistance for the index at the 17,150-160 range, with support at 16,930.

Asian markets off to a positive start

Asian stock markets traded in positive territory on Tuesday as investors became cautiously optimistic that the new Omicron variant may not cause widespread global economic disruption to exacerbate the coronavirus pandemic. MSCI’s broadest index of Asia-Pacific stocks outside of Japan was up 0.52% on Tuesday. In Australia, the S&P/ASX200 was up 1.15%, while the Japanese Nikkei was trading 1.2% higher at the start of the session. The Chinese blue chip CSI 300 index rose 0.13%.

Wall Street recovers after virus-related sell-off

Wall Street stocks closed higher on Monday, regaining some of the ground they lost in Friday’s sell-off as investors hoped the Omicron coronavirus variant would not lead to lockdowns after reassurance from US President Joe Biden. The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 236.6 points or 0.68% to 35,135.94, the S&P500 gained 60.65 points or 1.32% to 4,655.27 and the Nasdaq Composite added 291.18 points or 1.88 % to 15,782.83.

Rupee travels 18 paise to hit 5-week low on new Covid concerns

The rupee plunged 18 paise Monday, closing at a five-week low of 75.07 against the US dollar as new concerns about the novel coronavirus strain weighed on already weak investor sentiment. In the interbank currency market, the local currency opened at 74.84 and witnessed an intra-day high of 74.82 and a low of 75.16 against the US dollar in a highly volatile trading session.

Sensex, Nifty on Monday

Benchmark indices started the week positively on Monday following gains in RIL, banking and IT stocks, even as investors remained nervous about the Omicron variant of the coronavirus. The BSE Sensex, made up of 30 stocks, stabilized after Friday’s brutal sell-off, gaining 153.43 points or 0.27 percent to end at 57,260.58. The index had fallen more than 500 points, or more than 1 percent, as it opened trading in line with weak global signals. NSE Nifty rose 27.50 points or 0.16 percent to 17,053.95.
