Christine Marguerite Designs – My Small Business

Linda Kozloff-Turner started making jewelry on Pearl Street in 1975 and when she was just 19.5 years old, she helped run an established jewelry company in the city. At the time, she was the only female bank jeweler in Boulder. And while many jewelers have come and gone, one constant remains – Linda.

After working for three years, she decided to continue her education with a Bachelor of Arts in Industrial Product and Jewelry Design from Metropolitan State University. From there, she received a Master of Fine Arts in photography from CU Boulder, where she subsequently taught fine art photography at the university level for four years. Linda is a lifelong learner and is currently pursuing a gemologist’s degree through the Gemological Institute of America.

In addition to a solid education, Linda has decades of jewelry experience. Linda has never been far from a jewelry bank, selling jewelry in art galleries and bead shops (all while teaching, nurturing photography and feeding a family). Then, in 2008, Linda opened her own studio – Christine Marguerite Designs.

“Over the years, I’ve changed direction in many ways,” Linda said. “Christine Marguerite Designs makes custom jewelry, with everything done in-house. We produce all components locally using ethically sourced materials, from metals to gemstones.”

Christine Marguerite Designs is a renowned family business with a focus on giving back to the community. “We always have a philanthropic contribution to the company. It’s so important to give back to the community that supports us.”

Never shying away from a challenge or a busy workload, Linda started writing a book in 2016 alongside running her business. “I sat up one day and thought to myself, ‘Am I the only woman going through this?’ So I decided to interview 100 female jewelers worldwide and tell their stories. The experience was incredible and it has inspired me to curate the largest exhibition of women’s jewelry in the world to date.” Her honors are many and impressive – recipient of a Major Boulder Arts Grant, recipient of a CPAC Grant, recipient of an Ernst Haas Grant, and an associate of the Rocky Mountain Women’s Institute, to name a few.

During her whirlwind of a career, Linda has never left Boulder. “I came here right after graduating from high school. Boulder has something that nowhere else has. It’s a magical place to be, and the spell has never been broken with me.”
