Delta, Virgin Galactic, KB Home, Taiwan Semiconductor: What to Watch in the Stock Market Today

US stock and bond yields rose as new data on inflation and the labor market gave a mixed picture of the economic recovery. Here’s what was looked at in trading on Thursday:

• Virgin Galactic SPCE -15.08%

  said Thursday it plans to offer $425 million in convertible bonds maturing in 2027 in a private offering.

• Earnings season is back. Delta Air Lines DAL 3.90%

  said Thursday it expects to shake off the impact of the Omicron variant of Covid-19.

• Shares of BTCS,

  BTCS 10.72%

  a blockchain technology company, were poised to continue a recent rally after the Nasdaq-listed company said last week it would pay a dividend in the cryptocurrency bitcoin.

• Crypto companies also saw shares rise. Cryptocurrency Exchange Coinbase COIN 1.62%

  Global added 2% as bitcoin miner Marathon Digital Holdings MARA -0.40%

  increased by 1.6%.

• KB Home KBH 12.93%

  reported higher earnings and revenue for the fourth quarter, helped by strong demand despite supply chain disruption.

• US-listed shares of Taiwan Semiconductor TSM 9.30%

  Production gained after the world’s largest contract chip makers, net profit rose 16% in the fourth quarter from a year earlier, driven by strong demand for chips used in computers and smartphones.

• ElectroCore ECOR -14.26%

  shares fell Thursday. Shares rose more than 60% on Wednesday after the company said its gammaCore noninvasive vagus nerve stimulation received a breakthrough device from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for the treatment of post-traumatic stress disorder.

• Boeing BA 3.15%

  stocks pushed up in morning trading. On Tuesday, the company said it sold more planes than Airbus last year, but delivered half as many passenger jets, a sign of the changing landscape facing the world’s two dominant aircraft makers.

• Snap SNAP -5.34%

  stocks fell after Cowen lowered his rating on the stock to outperform and lowered his price target.

• Regulators in South Korea have Novavax. authorizeds

  NVAX -5.96%

  Covid-19 vaccine Wednesday, allowing it to join the previously authorized shots.

• Competition group MTCH 2.30%

  rose after Piper Sandler set a $130 a share price target for the dating company. The stock closed at $124.08 on Wednesday.

• Lennar LEN.B 2.99%

  said Wednesday that the board of directors has increased its annual dividend to $1.50 a share from $1.00 a share.
