Stock market LIVE updates: The key benchmark indices recouped some of the early morning losses, but largely exhibited a negative bias as there was no immediate relief from Russia-Ukriane conflict woes that have rapidly worsened. As per reports, the US and UK are mulling to impose fresh sanctions on Russia today.
The two benchmark indices were down around 1.55 per cent each. The Sensex was now 853 points lower at 56,830, while the Nifty50 index shed 254 points at 16,953.
TCS, Tata Steel, Dr Reddy’s, Bharti Airtel, L&T, SBI and Maruti were leading Sensex losers, down between 2-4 per cent.
The broader markets were also deep in red with the BSE MidCap and SmallCap indices trading down around per cent each.
Sectorally too, all the indices were also deep in red, trading at least a per cent lower. Nifty PSB index and Media index were the largest losers.
