London Stock Exchange suspends trading in 27 more Russian companies | business

The London Stock Exchange Group has suspended trading in 27 more Russian company stocks but admitted today that about eight were still being traded on its platform.

David Schwimmer, chief executive, said it was “a complex and fast-moving situation” and trading was being suspended only if it breached sanctions or if “orderly market” requirements were not met.

Trading in energy giants such as Lukoil, Gazprom and Rosneft has been suspended, as it has in the Russian bank Sberbank and the steel company Novolipetsk Steel. Previously trading had been formally suspended in only one stock the Russian bank VTB.

The group also announced that Russia had been removed from some of the international indices run by its FTSE Russell division.
