Property back on the rise amid stock market turmoil | money

Investors on the hunt for a steady income are putting their money on bricks and mortar for the first time in nearly four years.

About 134 million was invested into property funds in June, according to the technology and data company Calastone, after a record 44 months of investors withdrawing their cash from the sector.

Meanwhile investors were jittery about the stock market. Equity funds had 1.06 billion of outflows in June, when UK-focused funds bore the brunt of the selling, according to Calastone.

Calastone said that the inflows into property funds were mainly due to a wave of new buyers, rather than a reduction in the number of investors selling.

Property funds are mostly invested in commercial property, infrastructure and the logistics industry. they
