Purpose of the task:

Coordinates and provides support to all Canada Business Units and their related personnel, responsible for Business Resiliency functions including Business Continuity, Crisis Management, Incident Management and Disaster Recovery as required. The incumbent will develop, support and coordinate the strategy, standards, training, action plans and reporting for the successful implementation of a Canada Resiliency Platform. This position will drive standardization, effective analysis, communication and continuity planning, assisting and leading the organization during crises and managing all incidents, including technology and business continuity.

Main duties/tasks:

  • Supports and manages as required company-wide platforms for standardizing, measuring, storing and executing business continuity plans developed and maintained by company, divisional and business unit BCP experts.
  • Supports, provides guidance and communicates corporate crisis management policies, standards, plans and operational support platforms for all events impacting business units across Canada.
  • Develops and integrates best practices; conducts global training standards and programs for crisis incident management, business continuity and similar disciplines necessary to ensure the appropriate level of excellence of practitioners in the Canadian Division.
  • Leads and coordinates the handling of all incidents and crises that affect our customers and employees. This includes problem identification, resolution, mitigation and communication strategy for incidents and, if necessary, with legal matters related to such incidents. Will engage all relevant Canadian business units, corporate and business unit/resilience practitioners and/or champions, senior leadership, HR, IT and legal organizations for advice and internal/external communications as appropriate.
  • Coordinates a wide range of All Hazard incidents as required and provides guidance and support for incident handling, including operational incident and crisis support.
  • Supports and enhances summary and detailed statistics on Business Resiliency status, preparedness, crisis and incident reporting, and performs gap analysis and audits assurance program reviews as appropriate in areas critical to the operational effectiveness of the Canada Division. Engages company, business and divisional leaders as appropriate to minimize the recurrence of resilience and crisis incidents.
  • Collaborates with the Security Communications and Training organization to publish the Business Resiliency process, security champion lists, and escalation trees. Also helps define content for employees, business resilience professionals, BCP practitioners and security champions.
  • Defines requirements for the internal audit organization to evaluate effective resilience programs within the business units/divisions to ensure compliance with published company policies and commitments from employees and external suppliers.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Business Administration, Business Process Administration, Logistics, Business Law, Public Safety or Information Security.

Experience:

  • 3-5 years of proven business resilience, business continuity, disaster recovery, operations protection, crisis management, security and/or risk management.
  • Background in financial services, government COGS services, HR/payroll or business process outsourcing is a plus.
  • Experience in multinational/multi-divisional companies is an advantage.

General skills:

  • General understanding of customer lifecycle functions, including sales, implementation, and ongoing services.
  • Organizational direction, time management, problem solving, prioritization, goal setting, leadership and motivation, negotiation, interpersonal relationships, oral/written communication, and human resource management.
  • Works well under pressure and within time/budget constraints.
  • Collaborates effectively with cross-functional entities across the enterprise.
