Barrick Gold Corp. (TSX:ABX). Materials. Down 27 cents, or 1.02 percent, to $26.21 on 11.3 million shares.

Royal Bank of Canada (TSX: RY). Finance. An increase of $2.12, or 1.59 percent, to $135.61 on 11.2 million shares.

Whitecap Resources Inc. (TSX: WCP). Energy. An increase of 10 cents, or 0.9 percent, to $11.18 on 11 million shares.

Manilife Financial Corp. (TSX:MFC). Finance. An increase of 51 cents, or 1.96 percent, to $26.54 on 10.5 million shares.

Enbridge Inc. (TSX:ENB). Energy. An increase of two cents, or 0.04 percent, to $54.20 on 10.5 million shares.

Companies in the news:

Imperial Oil Ltd. (TSX:IMO). An increase of $2.28, or 3.27 percent, to $72.06. The company says it is moving forward with a $720 million project to build a renewable diesel plant at its Strathcona Refinery near Edmonton. The project, first announced in August 2021, is expected to produce 20,000 barrels of renewable diesel per day once completed. The company says a significant portion of production will be sent to British Columbia to support the province’s plan to reduce carbon emissions.

National Bank of Canada (TSX:NA). An increase of 54 cents, or 0.55 percent, to $99.20. The bank says the head of its asset management business is retiring. The bank says Martin Gagnon, executive vice president of asset management and co-chief executive of National Bank Financial, will step down on April 1. Until Gagnon’s successor is named, Denis Girouard, executive vice president and co-head of financial markets, will lead asset management on an interim basis.
