The national champion UConn men’s basketball program will be honored by ringing the opening bell at the New York Stock Exchange on Wednesday morning.
Reign Ned Lamont joins Dan Hurley, his assistant coaches and UConn President Radenka Maric as the Huskies are once again honored for winning the program’s fifth NCAA title. UConn earned the title with a victory over San Diego State last week in Houston.
The team was honored with a parade through downtown Hartford on Saturday. Coach Dan Hurley made appearances on national morning shows the morning after the win and was on ESPN Friday with Jordan Hawkins announcing he was leaving for the NBA.
UConn officials rang the closing bell in 2014 after the men’s and women’s teams won NCAA titles. Kevin Ollie, Geno Auriemma and then athletic director Warde Manuel did the honors at the Beurs.
Jim Calhoun rang the opening bell after UConn’s 2011 title.
