Companies in the news:

Air Canada. (TSX:AC). Transport. An increase of 11 cents, or 0.52 percent, to $21.12. Air Canada reported first-quarter revenue nearly doubled from a year earlier, as travelers re-boarded en masse, while higher costs weighed on net profit. Buoyed by record revenues of $4.9 billion, the quarter marked the airline’s second straight profit after 11 consecutive quarters of losses totaling $10.1 billion. Net profit was $4 million, in stark contrast to $974 million in losses a year ago.

TC Energy Corp. (TSX:TRP). Energy. Nine cents, or 0.16 percent, up to $55.94. TC Energy Corp. said it recovered all of the oil spilled into a Kansas creek following a leak from the Keystone pipeline in December. The Calgary-based pipeline company said that while the oil spilled into the creek has been recovered, it is still working to clean up and restore Mill Creek’s shoreline. TC Energy said it expects to be on site until the third quarter of this year to complete the cleanup.

Crescent Point Energy Corp. (TSX:CPG). Unchanged, at $9.13. Crescent Point Energy Corp. is increasingly using hedging to protect itself against fluctuations in commodity prices. Like other Canadian energy producers, the Calgary-based oil and gas company, which has drilling operations in Alberta, Saskatchewan and North Dakota, has been directly affected by the volatility in global energy markets over the past 12 months. On Friday, the company reported first-quarter earnings of $216.7 million or 39 cents per diluted share for the quarter ended March 31, down from $1.18 billion or $2.03 per diluted share in the same quarter last year.
