The market rally that started in April remains strong with healthy corrections. Market construction favors continuation of the rally. Global support for the rally comes from consolidation in the US market, where the S&P 500 is at a 52-week high with low volatility, indicating a lack of fear in the market. Domestic support to the market comes from strong economic signals. May CPI inflation of 4.25% and IIP of 4.2% are better than expected. The fall in inflation is a big positive from a market perspective as it opens up possibilities for an interest rate cut by the end of 2023. The 4% drop in crude oil prices, even after the OPEC cut, is good news for India.

On the back of better-than-expected economic news, DIIs have become big buyers over the past two days. This gives the market resilience.

Markets may herald gains in early Tuesday trades amid a sharp overnight rally in US markets, though Asian indicators are trading mixed. Markets are growing hopeful about the US economy and interest rates and are counting on a pause in the Federal Reserve’s rate hike. The Fed’s decision to pause interest rates hinges on inflation data trickling in later today, with the consensus expecting core inflation to fall to 5.3% year on year. Technically, Nifty’s downside is seen as well supported at 18463, while bulls everywhere are likely to be only above Nifty’s all-time-high at 18888.
