Position summary
Business analysts are responsible for research, data analysis, budgeting, forecasting and reporting to support business decision making, business strategy and operations. They may also be involved in business process improvement, work verification, special projects and other initiatives. This function will be aimed at supporting Pole Off Cycle Inspections and the Pole Reinforcement programs.
This position offers a flexible work location within the PG&E service area.
PG&E provides the salary range that the company believes in good faith to pay for this position at the time of the vacancy. This compensation range is specific to the location of the track. The actual salary paid to an individual is based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, collective bargaining agreements, and internal fairness.
A reasonable salary range is:
Bay Area Minimum: $93,000
Bay Area Maximum: $139,000
&/OR
California Minimum: $88,000
Maximum California: $132,000
This position is also eligible to participate in PG&E’s discretionary compensation programs.
Job responsibilities:
- Data analysis: Performs analysis on complex data models requiring custom reports and data compilation. Can develop and/or maintain data models and data products for what-if analyses. Develops new or revises existing data analytics.
- Statistics and reporting: Tracks business statistics and develops recommendations regarding business strategy and operations. Develops and maintains standard, custom and ad-hoc reports and dashboards. Presents findings and recommendations to leaders.
- Budgeting and forecasting: Develops or works with budgets and forecasts.
- Research: Researches best practices. Develops internal and external benchmarks to support business decisions.
- Quality assurance and improvement of business processes: can carry out activities to support the company in the field of quality assurance and improvement of business processes. Activities may include developing, managing or coordinating performance or quality assessments, business process reengineering, change management, communications and training.
- Project management: Leads small to medium projects, defines scope, budget, timelines, forms teams, assigns tasks, and manages resources and issues.
Qualifications
Minimum:
- Bachelor of Science in Business, Finance, Economics, Engineering or related discipline or equivalent work experience required
- 4 years of relevant work experience
Desirable:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel
- Experience with Palantir Foundry/Power Apps/Power Bi is a plus (but not required)
- Strong experience in analyzing data to draw business relevant conclusions and in sharing/communicating findings and recommendations through visualizations and reports
- Ability to challenge the status quo. Persistent curiosity about self-improvement
- Flexible with changing business conditions and ambiguities
- Excellent organizational and prioritization skills
- Knowledge and understanding of the key drivers that influence business results. Ability to understand how project level details affect the big picture (program, industry, company)
