Team overview

The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) group is responsible for the overall financial management of our company. This includes accounting, financial and regulatory reporting, balance sheet management, financial planning and analysis, treasury, investor relations, corporate investment and taxation.

Global banking and market finance strives to be a valued business partner to the Company’s trading, corporate and institutional banking operations. Our first priority is to implement a series of key audit processes to ensure the integrity of GBAM’s financial results. We then build on these activities to provide performance insight to business leaders. Finance’s assets are its people.

Business Finance Officers/Control (BFO/BFC) Partners directly with our Front Office LOBs who provide strategic guidance and insight; Performs the product audit function to ensure the integrity of our financial results.

The proposed Business Finance and Controller (“BFC”) role supports the day-to-day control functions for the Trading Desk within the Global Mortgages and Securitized Products (GMSP) industry. Coverage will extend across multiple products Trading desks for cash securities, loans and derivatives.

Key responsibilities include:

• Daily balance sheet analysis and commentary, P&L substantiation of market events, significant transaction review

• Monthly close functions, journal entry processing, accounting adjustments, reconciliations, reserve and valuation adjustment calculations

• Work with Trading Desk, Trade Support, Operations, ECM and other partners for business support including new product review, accounting review, troubleshooting

• Quarterly management and regulatory reporting including fair value notes, turnover/balance sheet variance comment

• Sarbanes-Oxley related control activities and coordination

• Volcker/Capital related validation activities such as Volcker balance check, validation of Volcker and Capital attributes for books to ensure compliance with corporate guidelines

• Participate in initiatives to simplify/automate manual processes

Required Skills:

• Bachelor’s degree (preferably Accounting/Finance/Economics)

• 3+ years of experience in the financial sector/banks (preferably Product Control background)

• Advanced experience/skills with Excel and complex spreadsheets

• Strong financial analysis experience

• Candidate must be able to work independently as well as in a team

• Strong communication and problem solving skills
