Cornish Metals Inc. said Wednesday that an updated estimate of funds for its South Crofty tin project in Cornwall, UK, points to a material increase in both metric tonnage and tin content.

The London and Toronto-listed miner said additional sampling information for the lower mine on the project saw an increase in declared tin from 10.2% to 2.08 million tons and an increase in derived tin from 129.8% to 1.94 million tons.

In the upper mine, declared tons of tin increased 9.5% to 277,000, while derived tons increased by 8.0% to 493,000.

The mineral resource estimate has been prepared by Cornish Metals’ own geology team and has been independently reviewed and verified by AMC Consultants (UK) Ltd.

“Following on our successful surface drilling campaign in 2020, where we traversed high-grade tin mineralization under the historic operation, this new mineral resource estimate confirms our belief in the potential for resource expansion in South Crofty,” said Chief Executive Richard Williams.

Mr Williams also said the updated estimate shows Cornwall has the potential to become a major tin producer and supply the responsibly mined technological metals needed to meet climate change goals.
