McDonald’s will create 800 jobs across Ireland, increasing the workforce here to more than 3,000.
McDonald’s said the rolls are being created to accommodate increased capacity in restaurants in line with the easing of Covid-19 restrictions.
The jobs will be in restaurants across the country, including counties of Carlow, Cavan, Cork, Dublin, Kerry, Sligo and Westmeath.
Enterprise Minister Leo Varadkar welcomed the announcement as a “welcome boost” and said that “Ireland continues to move towards a full reopening, it is extremely positive news to see companies such as McDonald’s making plans to expand and expand its workforce. .”
McDonald’s UK and Ireland CEO Paul Pomroy said more than 3,000 jobs have been created since McDonald’s opened its first branch in Ireland in 1977.
He said there is no doubt that the pandemic has had a huge impact on the employment of many people.
He said: “Our 95 restaurants are run by 22 local franchisees, which means we have a personal interest in all of our communities.
“It is a big responsibility and the steps we announced today reflect our commitment to continue to innovate and invest in the local communities and economies we serve.”
Ibec CEO Danny McCoy said McDonald’s offers its workforce significant growth and development opportunities at all levels of its business.
He added: “McDonald’s commitment to Ireland and the Irish market remains strong and will continue to grow in the coming years.”
