Nepse closes with just Rs 5,053 billion daily turnover – The Himalayan Times – Nepal’s No.1 English Daily Newspaper

The Nepalese stock exchange, which at one point witnessed daily turnover of as much as Rs 19 billion, now saw its turnover drop to Rs 5.053 billion at the close of the trading day on Sunday.

The country’s only secondary market has seen a gradual daily sales decline in recent days, with current daily sales being the lowest in recent months.

On the first trading day of the week, the benchmark index fell by 8.48 points to 2,834.52 points, down 0.30 percent.

The sensitive index, which measures the performance of Class “A” shares, fell 0.06 percent or 0.33 points to 528.46 points.

Similarly, the float index, which measures the performance of the shares actually traded, fell 0.38 percent or 0.75 points to 196.04 points at the end of the day.

All sub-indices saw red today, except for the Hotels and Tourism index which led the pack of winners, including only two others, the Mutual Fund index and the Others index. The non-life insurance index lost the most with a fall of 119.79 points.

During today’s trading, 10,842,221 shares of 224 companies traded at Rs 5.053 billion.

At the end of the day, the total market cap reached Rs 3,937 trillion.
