What’s the best – and tastiest – way to cool off in the scorching summer heat?

There are unique ice cream parlors in every corner of the county, so wherever you are, you’re always close to a sweet treat.
Here are seven of the most popular and beloved ice cream parlors in Livingston County.
Dairyville
For a wide variety of soft serve flavors, try Dairyville in Fowlerville.
The ice cream parlor updates its menu regularly, including seasonal flavors like cheesecake and pumpkin in the fall. The most popular soft serve is the Gladiator cone with blueberry and lemon soft serve twisted together to match the iconic purple and gold of Fowlerville schools.
You can also grab an ice cream on the go with Dairyville’s drive-through service.
Dairyville is open daily from noon to 10 pm and is located at 447 W. Grand River Road in Fowlerville.

The newest ice cream parlor in the county is NautiMi on the River – a Michigan gift shop on the Huron River.
NautiMI, which opened in April, has nautical-themed gifts and offers 18 flavors of Hudsonville ice cream and two flavors of dairy-free Rosati ice cream.
If you can’t decide which flavor you want, try the “Look Who’s Nauti Now” sandcastle bucket with 12 scoops of ice cream, whipped cream, and cherries.
NautiMI on the River is located at 9260 Mcgregor Road in Pinckney. The store is open Monday through Thursday from 1:00 PM to 9:00 PM and Friday through Sunday from 11:00 AM to 9:00 PM.

The Creamatory at Screams Souvenirs
The best way to cool off in the fires of hell is with some ice cold treats.
The Creamatory at Screams Souvenirs offers Hershey’s ice cream with toppings such as bat poo (chocolate chips), fairy farts (sprinkles), toenails (toasted coconut), and eyeballs (cherries).
The ice cream shop also makes waffle cones on request, so they’ll still be warm when you get them.
Visit Screams Souvenirs in the hamlet of Hell at 4045 Patterson Lake Road in Pinckney. The shop is open daily from 11 am to 8 pm
Cap’n Frosty
With a huge menu and abundant outdoor seating, everyone will enjoy Cap’n Frosty in Pinckney.
Cap’n Frosty has plenty of basic soft serve sundaes to choose from, but the most famous are the hand-dipped specialty sundaes with a multitude of toppings.
Kids love the Blue Moon and Superman flavors, and for the adults, try the cappuccino crunch or the dark chocolate raspberry.
Cap’n Frosty is open daily from 2pm-9:30pm. The ice cream parlor is located just off M-36 at 9245 Bernice Dr. in Pinckney.
Whistle Stop Ice Cream Caboose
Enjoy classic soft serve ice cream from a non-traditional store at Whistle Stop Ice Cream, which is located in a repurposed train car.
The railcar was built in the early 1940s and traveled across the country before being parked in Howell in the late 1980s.
Whistle Stop has a variety of soft serve, frozen yogurt, and hard-packed ice cream to choose from. The most popular flavor is the Michigan Pothole with chocolate ice cream, fudge swirls, and fudge chunks.
The rail car is located at 2385 E. Grand River Road in Howell. Whistle Stop is open Monday through Friday from 3:00 PM to 10:00 PM and Saturday and Sunday from 12:00 PM to 10:00 PM.
M Street Baking Co.
M Street Baking Co. in Howell is known for its custom cakes, but the bakery also offers a rotating menu of loaded milkshakes.
Each milkshake is topped with cookies, candy, and miniature cupcakes. The bakery offers five milkshake flavors at once, with a new featured flavor each week.
The most popular are the Strawberry Shortcake shake topped with Golden Oreos and a Strawberry Shortcake ice cream bar and the Birthday Party shake with animal crackers, rock candy, a lollipop and cotton candy.
M Street Baking Co. is open Thursday through Sunday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. at its downtown Howell location, 117 N. Michigan Ave.
Jack’s custard and pastry Cake
Whether you want a single scoop or enough ice cream to feed 24 people, Jack’s Custard and Cakes has you covered.
The custard shop in the center of Brighton has scoops, sundaes and shakes, as well as large custard cakes and goodies to take away.
Try the Cookie Monster, a blue vanilla custard with oreo and cookie dough, or the Brighton Bulldog sundae with layers of brownie, fudge, and vanilla custard.
Jack’s Custard and Cakes is open daily from 11:30 am to 9:00 pm and is located at 415 Mill Pond Lane in Brighton.
