Asos closes deal with Nordstrom to sell Topshop in US stores | Asos

Online fashion retailer Asos has signed a deal with US department store chain Nordstrom that will bring Topshop clothing back into physical stores.

Nordstrom is taking a minority stake in the Topshop, Topman, Miss Selfridge and activewear HIIT brands that Asos bought in March after the collapse of Sir Philip Green’s Arcadia empire for an undisclosed sum, as part of a joint venture announced Monday.

Nordstrom will sell the brands on its websites and in its 350 stores. It also allows shoppers to pick up and return Asos products in its stores.

Partnering with Nordstrom will support our US strategy, enabling us to offer it to even more 20-somethings in North America, said Asos CEO Nick Beighton.

Nordstrom operates in the US and Canada, attracting nearly 2 billion visits to its website each year. The company had a long history with Topshop, before Arcadias collapsed after selling its clothing in the US as of 2012. However, this will be the first time that Asos clothing will hit the high street.

Asos acquired Topshop, along with some of Arcadias’ other leading brands, from its administration in a $330 million deal in March. Arcadia collapsed in November 2020 after years of poor trade and high costs exacerbated by the pandemic.

We were excited about bringing the Asos brands to our customers and know we can help further strengthen the recognition of the already popular Topshop and Topman brands, said Nordstrom President and Chief Brand Officer, Pete Nordstrom.
