Gas prices are about $1 more per gallon than last summer

Gas prices have continued to rise in New Jersey and across the country as many Americans head out for summer road trips.

AAA Mid-Atlantic says the average price of a gallon of regular gas in New Jersey on Friday was $3.17, one cent more than a week ago. Drivers were currently paying an average of $2.19 per gallon a year ago.

The national average price for a gallon of regular gasoline was $3.16, two cents more than last week. Drivers were currently paying an average of $2.20 per gallon a year ago.

Analysts say the high price of crude oil is likely to keep pump prices above $3 a gallon for the remainder of the summer season.
