Appointments open in the three states for people eligible for the COVID vaccine booster

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) – With the announcement that a COVID vaccine booster is recommended for people with weakened immune systems, appointments are opening for them.

So far they are recommended for Pfizer or Moderna, not for Johnson and Johnson.

Currently, the CDC recommends that people who are moderately to severely immunocompromised receive an additional dose. This includes people who have:

You have received active cancer treatment for tumors or cancers of the blood. You have had an organ transplant and you are taking medicine to suppress the immune system. You have had a stem cell transplant within the past two years or are taking medicine to suppress the immune system. In Kentucky, Owensboro Health officials say they also schedule appointments and have the supply in stock.

As of Wednesday, US health officials are expected to recommend an additional dose of the vaccine to all Americans eight months after receiving their second injection.
