Himachal Pradesh’s government on Saturday extended the state’s corona curfew to May 26 without any major changes in restrictions. The statewide curfew, in which only essential work is allowed, was initially imposed from May 7 to 17.
At a cabinet meeting held in Shimla, it was decided to extend the curfew until 6 a.m. on May 26 after reviewing the Covid situation.
There are currently around 40,000 active cases of Covid in Himachal, including more than 3,000 new infections that were reported on Friday. 67 Covid patients died in 24 hours until Friday evening.
The firm also imposed stricter standards on weddings, including a ban on the use of community halls, wedding palaces, tents, outside dining and DJs / bands. Weddings can only take place in houses or courts without a baraat procession and with a participation of up to 20 people, the cabinet decided.
The firm allowed hardware stores selling building materials to remain open on Tuesdays and Fridays for three hours a day.
It has also enabled municipalities, medical schools, zone and regional hospitals and other hospitals with a capacity of 200 beds or more to hire cadaver vans.
The logging company will provide firewood to cremate deceased Covid patients, and in areas where forest rights are enforced, the wood will be donated free of charge by the forestry department, the cabinet said.
