The country is slowly recovering from the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. As the nation continues to hand out and debate vaccinations, the NFL is gearing up for another season and creating guidelines for all of its staff.
Kansas City Chiefs HC Andy Reid is proud to have his team on the same page going into any season. Vaccination has been part of the discussion as the team prepares for another year. Reid addressed the latest batch of COVID-19 protocols that are being implemented for the coming season during Thursday’s press conference.
We kept the guys as educated as possible with the different protocols, ”said Reid. “It also gave them the opportunity to see if they wanted to get the vaccine or not, the benefits there, what the doctors are saying, what the latest science is saying. So if they had any questions all I asked was they get answers. With that, we’ve had a number of guys signing up. We were headed in the right direction there.
Reid is one of the chefs’ staff who has been previously vaccinated. He has been a defender of his team by following the league rules and the science behind them. They agreed, for the most part, knowing that the newly agreed protocols return things almost to normal for those vaccinated.
Although the Chiefs have yet to cross the vaccination threshold of around 85%, they are among the best teams in the league when it comes to vaccination according to Reid.
“It was one of the better teams with vaccines, and good luck with that,” Reid said. “But I think the education part ends up being important for a lot of guys just to know where it’s at and where it’s going. And I like the policies they put in place. There are some things that just need to be done to make it work, and I think the league has done it.
