New U.S. President of B2C2 will help the company make it easy for institutional clients to view crypto as a more secure asset class, says co-CEO, executive will focus on price transparency, liquidity and security. settlement certainty, as well as helping to prepare B2C2 for the potential regulatory changes in the crypto market.
The former head of global fixed income operations at Citadel Securities will now lead B2C2’s U.S. operations as president of cryptocurrency brokers.
Nicola White, who worked at Citadel for nearly four years, was responsible for defining and implementing a strategy to establish the company’s institutional bond market making business.
Prior to Citadel, she spent approximately 13 years with Morgan Stanley, where she held positions such as Global Head of Electronic Rates and Head of Electronic Fixed Income. Among his most significant accomplishments were the electronicization of interest rate trading for the bank and the launch of a Canadian fixed income company.
Now, its experience in developing electronic solutions for institutional markets will enhance B2C2’s capabilities as a full-service liquidity provider, the company said on Monday.
The crypto space is something that I think, like a lot of people, I have watched with keen interest, White told Blockworks, and the structure of the market is something that has always been of great interest to me.
B2C2 is a London-based institutional crypto markets trading company. Acquired by Japanese financial group SBI Financial Services last year, B2C2 provides liquidity to banks, brokerage houses, exchanges and fund managers.
Rob Catalanello, co-CEO of the company, said the company anticipates increased regulation in the United States as it expands its business to include more derivatives that would require reporting. White had experience with both the brokerage side and derivatives reporting, he noted.
If all of a sudden there is a regulation that crypto is now a security, we will have to follow all the different protocols associated with trading in securities, explained Catalanello. We will be ready so that there is no delay in serving our customers.
White said she will focus particularly on price transparency, liquidity and certainty of settlement, which she has identified as key areas of concern for many clients.
Although many exchanges were overwhelmed by market volatility and trading volumes on May 19, the company said in a press release, B2C2 had a record day in which it executed over a million. transactions and settled over $ 1 billion.
B2C2 has been the backbone of delivering liquidity through this event, and to me that speaks not only of the strength of the technology, but also of everything from front to back – regulations, [algorithms], technology, White said. I think it is very important to move the crypto markets forward by having liquidity providers who are able to provide liquidity through all market events.
Catalanello said he believes the over-the-counter trade in cash and derivatives will continue to increase, noting that the company is hiring with that in mind. Most B2C2 executives have a background in traditional finance, he added, which enables him to provide the crypto space customer service that customers can expect from a Tier 1 bank.
By adding Nicola, we would continue to improve, said Catalanello,… and make it easy for institutional clients to view crypto as a much more secure asset class.
