In this episode of Bitcoin Magazine’s “Meet The Taco Plebs”, I spoke to one and only Mitch Klee, a recurring contributor here to the magazine and a joint presence in our Twitter Spaces.
Mitch and I discussed several topics, including his inspiration for his two Bitcoin Magazine articles. These touch on the topics of inflation, misallocation of capital, how commonly cited metrics are misleading regarding these topics, and how it all relates to Bitcoin. Mitch is a dedicated Bitcoiner who always discusses the latest news in our Telegram chat “Bitcoin Contributor” – an exclusive chat for those who contribute here to the magazine. I highly recommend you check out his two articles, “Bitcoin as a Pressure Relief Valve” and “Bitcoin and the Changing Definition of CPI,” both of which are fantastic comments on our current economic conditions.
Below is a written version of our interview, and be sure to check out the audio and video version of the podcast!
What’s your Bitcoin rabbit hole story?
I heard about it in 2013, tried mining and figured out that I could do it with my computer. I lost interest after the crash and didn’t hear about it again until 2017. When 2017, I looked at technology as an investment vehicle in the future and was confused with the altcoins and I finally landed on Bitcoin being the one and only option.
How has Bitcoin changed your life?
It encouraged me to take on a lot more personal responsibility and sovereignty. I have given more thought to the direction in which Bitcoin is going and my time preference has increased when it comes to investing in bitcoin. I also see value differently when it comes to buying things, food, and just money in general.
I also have a lot more knowledge in general about finance and how the global financial system works. Bitcoin on the Edge has a lot of different things that you need to understand before you really understand how Bitcoin works. Knowing more about these topics taught me more about the world.
What inspired you to write your article “Bitcoin as a Pressure Relief Valve” and “Bitcoin and the Changing Definition of CPI” for the magazine?
For “Bitcoin as a Pressure Relief Valve” I was looking for how Bitcoin could be adopted and needed to know more. I had a guess but I needed to know if it was true. I have come to the conclusion that there is something called the “leapfrog effect”.
For “Bitcoin and the Changing Definition of CPI,” 2020 had a lot of currency impressions and with the amount of currency expansion, I wasn’t confident the numbers were actually true.
What are you looking forward to the most in the Bitcoin space?
A foundation of truth with money. The whole world is on the fiat system, and being able to watch Bitcoin grow and evolve is one of the most interesting things I can witness and want to be a part of. Because our financial system is so disrupted, Bitcoin solves a problem for everyone because it is the only base layer alternative that you cannot change and over which governments have no control. I am very excited to have a trustworthy base money.
Price forecast for the end of 2021, and the end of 2030?
No price prediction, but I don’t think the bull market is over. People migrate to the most liquid assets and money. Everything will find its true value against bitcoin.
