Lolli raises $ 10 million

New York-based Lolli has raised $ 10 million from investors, according to the company’s announcement on July 28. The company said Series A is led by Acrew Capital, Banana Capital, Up North Management and Animal Capital.

Venture capital firm Animal was founded by social media moguls Noah Beck, Josh Richards and Griffin Johnson. Lolli also clarified that investors like Baron Davis, Kenny Beecham, Logan Paul and Chantel Jeffries also participated.

Lolli CTO and co-founder Matt Senter said Acrew Capital’s investment shows the company understands that bitcoin-based businesses are booming.

“Acrew’s big bet on Lolli says two things: Bitcoin trading is booming, and as the original bitcoin rewards platform, Lolli has the best team to increase long-term adoption,” Senter said in a statement. The Series A funding will be used to grow the business, recruit new employees and “continue to develop the recently launched mobile application”.

Tiktok star and social media giant Josh Richards and Youtuber and entrepreneur Logan Paul also discussed Lolli’s investment. “I am excited to invest and help fuel the growth of a business that enables users to earn and learn more about this new asset class,” Youtube star Logan Paul said Wednesday. Josh Richards said his company Animal Capital believes in companies embracing the modern age. Richards noted during the announcement:

At Animal Capital, we believe in businesses that meet modern users where they are – by providing opportunities to invest in bitcoin for buyers of all ages, Lolli is poised to transform the way people, in particular. young buyers are considering investing.

Lolli competition, evaluation score and disadvantages

Lolli isn’t the only service offering crypto rewards these days for purchases, and the app competes with prepaid crypto cards like Visa cards from Blockfi and Crypto.com. The company was recently reviewed on July 13 by Dean Fankhauser of bitcompare.net and was rated 4.5 out of 5. Fankhauser’s review is quite comprehensive but mentions some downsides to applying Lolli.

“You will have to wait between 30 and 90 days before you see any real gains from the app,” writes Fankhauser. “Considering how low that income is, it’s a long time to wait for an online shopping reward.”

The review also states that “the return of items on which you have already earned bitcoin rewards can also muddy the waters of the system.” In contrast, Crypto.com’s wait time for crypto rewards on prepaid crypto debit purchases is negligible because crypto rewards are instant.
