BCH Sidechain ETH Compatible Smartbch Successfully Launches Three Nodes

On the eve of Bitcoin Cash’s fourth anniversary, the Smart Bitcoin Cash (Smartbch) team announced that the project has launched three nodes as genesis validators. Smartbch revealed that Btc.com, Viabtc and Matrixport are participating and that the project has officially started its voting period.

Smartbch launches Genesis Smart Chain validators

For some time now, the Bitcoin Cash (BCH) community has been patiently awaiting the development of the Smartbch project. The reason is that Smartbch could unlock huge potential between Ethereum (ETH) and Bitcoin Cash.

The protocol could strengthen decentralized finance (challenge) on Bitcoin Cash and be compatible with the second largest crypto asset in terms of market capitalization. Bitcoin.com News first reported on Smartbch in the first week of April and interviewed the lead developer for the project 15 days later.

At the end of the month, Smartbch launched the testnet publicly and which gives decentralized app developers and makers the opportunity to experiment and develop with the high-performance, EVM-enabled Bitcoin Cash side chain. Smartbch has now started its engines with three nodes acting as genesis validators.

The three Smartbch nodes are operated by Viabtc, Matrixport and Btc.com. “Smartbch is now in its first voting period,” explains the announcement of the project. “More validators will be elected by the SHA256 miners and take office in the future.”

“We spent two more development months than the initial estimate to finalize the data structure of MoeingADS and implement SEP101, SEP206 and Transaction Reorder on Smartbch,” adds the Smartbch development team.

“MoeingADS is the underlying storage engine for the state of the world, which is very difficult to change in hard forks,” say the developers of Smartbch. “Ethereum’s underlying storage engine, MPT, has never changed its data structure from the start. MoeingADS is now powerful enough to support 51,000 TPS and can support the growth of Smartbch for many years without changing its main data structure.

Focus on a secure inter-chain bridge

The Smartbch team says the project will take a long time to make the protocol robust. Over the past few weeks, developers have noticed a number of challenge projects that were suffering from exploits and this was due to cross-chain bridge vulnerabilities.

The Smartbch team aims to strengthen the cross-chain gateway of the Bitcoin Cash sidechain so that it is very secure and powerful. “This will make safety the top priority and will be audited by the community,” said the Smartbch team.

“The launch is a solid step in the long journey of Smartbch”, conclude the creators of the project. “We invite all members of the BCH community to use it and contribute to its growth. We will soon be providing guides for BCH holders to try it out and transfer a limited amount of coins between chains through the current single gateway.
