PSV managed to attract a new sponsor with company Veghel Anycoin Direct, which has signed up to the club for two seasons. The company becomes one of the biggest sub-sponsors and pays the sponsorship amount in Bitcoins.

The equivalent is estimated at around 400,000 euros per season. If the crypto coins lose value, the PSV will still receive a (unknown) warranty return.

Other clubs, including Ajax, are now working with crypto coin suppliers. PSV are the first club to have paid the sponsorship amount in this way, explains commercial director Frans Janssen. The company can, for example, place expressions in the stadium in return. PSV will not actively approach supporters to participate in the investment in crypto coins.

The club have received many offers to work with a partner in this sector and, according to Janssen, has categorically opted for a company in its own region of Brainport. Anycoin Direct was founded in 2013 and now has 400,000 customers, according to the company.
