Cryptocurrency prices plunged today with Bitcoin trading below the $ 47,000 level. Bitcoin, the world’s largest and best-known cryptocurrency, has grown over 59% this year (year to date). Bitcoin prices fell 3% to $ 46,231, according to CoinDesk.

Ether, the coin linked to the ethereum blockchain and the second largest crypto, was also trading with drops of 4% to $ 3,174. Dogecoin, on the other hand, plunged nearly 4% to $ 0.32. Other digital coins like Stellar, Uniswap, XRP, Litecoin, Cardano also fell in the last 24 hours.

The total market value of cryptocurrencies once again exceeded $ 2 trillion as Bitcoin continued to climb and Cardano, XRP and Dogecoin also advanced. The market value of cryptos hit $ 2.06 trillion on Saturday, according to CoinGecko, which tracks more than 8,800 coins. Bitcoin hit $ 48,152, the highest level since May 16, as it showed endurance above its 200-day moving average.

Meanwhile, Indian Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has informed that the cryptocurrency bill has been tabled in Cabinet and is awaiting approval. “Cabinet note is ready on cryptocurrency (Bill). I am waiting for Cabinet to clear it,” the minister told reporters in an interaction on Monday. India has long been on the cryptocurrency fence, gradually deciding to accept or reject digital currencies.

In another news, retail giant Walmart Inc. is looking to hire a cryptocurrency expert to develop a blockchain strategy, joining a growing number of large companies exploring the viability of digital currencies such as Bitcoin.

Prior to the rebound in recent weeks, the crypto industry had been plagued by a crackdown in China and concerns about the environmental impact of the energy needed to create coins and process transactions. Supportive comments from billionaire Elon Musk and Ark Investment Management LLC firm Cathie Wood helped Bitcoin rally.
