Advisor to the President of Colombia: Bitcoin is the most brilliant software of all time

An adviser to the Colombian president has called Bitcoin the most brilliant software of all time.

Speaking in an interview with CryptoPotato, Presidential Advisor Jehudi Castro Sierra praised Bitcoin’s technological prowess. Castro Sierra, whose primary responsibility is to guide the country’s leader on issues related to technology and digital transformation, said Bitcoin has become of paramount interest to him.

Castro Sierra told his interviewer that he originally viewed Bitcoin as a great open source project before grabbing his monetary innovation:

After a while, I also became interested in the monetary innovation that this represents, and I am still discovering amazing new things every day.

The presidential adviser called cryptoassets one of his main purposes and hailed the technology as an innovative sandbox for reaching citizens in a secure manner. Castro Sierra said the government was interested in drafting friendly regulations that would encourage innovation in the country and attract outside investment.

Castro Sierra also commented on El Salvador’s recent adoption of Bitcoin as legal tender, saying it was a bold move. He remained silent on whether Colombia would follow suit in recognizing Bitcoin as the official form of currency.

Instead, he acknowledged the risks associated with cryptoassets, but said the industry would likely bring new investments to Colombia.
