Bitcoin prices have improved a lot lately and the network hashrate remains higher than it was 67 days ago when it hit a low of 69 exahash on June 28. Today statistics show Bitcoin’s hashrate has increased by over 92% since then and the network is due for another increased difficulty change in four days.
Bitcoin Hashrate Improves Dramatically In 2 Months
Bitcoin has risen over 7% in fiat value over the past seven days and has a market cap of over $ 950 billion on Friday. At the time of going to press, three-month hash statistics from coinwarz.com show that BTC hash power has increased significantly since the end of June.
At that time, bitcoin miners from China were facing government crackdown and were forced to relocate to other countries. The difficulty in mining BTC, however, started to drop well before the slight drop to 69 exahash per second (EH / s). At the end of May, the difficulty dropped by 15.97% and two weeks later another drop of 5.3% took place.
Bitcoin hashrate on Friday, September 3, 2021. 133 EH / s measured over a three month period.
After the hashrate rose to 69 EH / s, the Bitcoin network saw the greatest decrease in epoch mining difficulty over the lifetime of the protocol. On July 3, 2021, the mining difficulty decreased by 27.94% and two weeks later it dropped again by 4.81% on July 17.
In four days, the Bitcoin network’s mining difficulty is expected to increase by more than 2% to $ 17.98 trillion.
After that time, during the rest of July and throughout August, the price and hashrate of BTC saw a big rally. The downward difficulty change on July 17 was followed by the first increase of four consecutive downward changes, as it rose 6.03% on July 29.
Upcoming difficulty change could make it 28% harder to find a Bitcoin block, the increase will erase the biggest downward difficulty change from July
Since then, the hashrate has remained stable and BTC has seen a total of two increases since the 6.03% increase, and the most recent increase has jumped 13.24%. Before this significant increase and after the peak of 6%, mining difficulty also jumped 7.31%.
Today, hash data from coinwarz.com shows that the BTC network is advancing at 133 exahash per second. At the current rate, in four days the difficulty in mining BTC is expected to drop from 17.62 trillion to 17.98 trillion. That would be an increase of 2.07% at the time of writing, but depending on the hashrate it could go up or down from that point.
Distribution of Bitcoin hashrate on Friday, September 3, 2021.
The current leading mining pool in terms of BTC hashrate is Antpool with 16.24% of the network or 20.52 EH / s of hashrate. Viabtc follows Antpool with 13.69% of the network hashrate or 17.3 PE / s. Then there are Poolin (11.37%), Btc.com (9.98%), F2pool (9.98%), Foundry USA (9.51%), Binance Pool (9.05%), and unknown hashrate (7.89%).
If the estimates are correct and the difficulty increases by 2.07% in four days, that means that as of July 31, it will probably be 28.65% more difficult to find a bitcoin block (BTC) in September 2021.
