Quantum Crypto is PSA Level 2 Ready certified

PSA Certified is a global collaborative safety program. Its founding members include semiconductor IP provider Arm and Riscure, a software and hardware security assessment provider specializing in chips, embedded and mobile devices.

The program sets out a framework for the security of connected devices and its objective is to prevent security from becoming an obstacle to product development.

The PSA Certified Security Assessment has various components that aim to certify security credentials for Root-of-Trust (RoT) chips, software, components, and devices.

At PSA Certified Level 2 and PSA Certified Level 3, the focus is on PSA-RoT which is provided by silicon suppliers. PSA Certified Level 2 Ready is designed for companies that provide a subset of the comprehensive PSA-RoT security requirements.

The Crypto Quantum Semiconductor Hardware IP (QDID) is a dedicated non-clonable physical function (PUF) used in standard CMOS processes. It supports full PSA-RoT provided by chip vendors by harnessing the femto-currents caused by the random quantum tunneling of electrons through the oxide layer of the chips to generate random numbers, or seeds.

The seeds are then used to produce unique, uncorrelated, non-clonable identities and cryptographic keys on demand. Since these identities and keys are produced within the device itself and do not need to be stored in memory or injected from external sources, they are inherently more secure than those produced by alternative technologies.

Second-generation PUF technology is also by far the most economical, requiring only a minimal silicon area to generate multiple keys and eliminating the need for expensive on-chip devices such as secure memory.

The PSA Certified Level 2 Ready program has enabled Crypto Quantum to perform penetration testing on a subset of the PSA Certified Level 2 security requirements, demonstrating to chip vendors that its QDID technology meets some of PSA’s requirements. Certified Level 2. This allows chipmakers to take pre-certification and use it in a full level 2 certified PSA certification.
