Starting next week, customers using The Post Office’s EasyID app will be able to purchase cryptocurrencies such as bitcoin.
The mobile app, while helping users to securely verify their age and identity in order to access online services, can be used to make purchases on Swarm Markets, a decentralized cryptocurrency exchange.
With a few clicks on their phone, customers will be able to purchase crypto vouchers that will be redeemable for Bitcoin or Ethereum.
Swarm Markets co-founder Philipp Pieper said: Until now people have been excluded from DeFi because there was no secure, reliable and regulated platform to use.
“By making it easy and secure to buy real Bitcoin and Ethereum, more people now have the opportunity to get into crypto and enjoy the benefits of DeFi – and not just those who understand crypto jargon,” a- he added.
A spokesperson for The Post Office said that access to products and services is moving more and more online and we have responded to this change by launching our free application, Post Office EasyID, allowing people to create their own. secure digital identity on their smartphone and allowing them to easily control and prove who they are to the company they wish to interact with.
The news comes after cryptocurrencies took a giant leap towards mass adoption earlier this week, with El Salvador legalizing Bitcoin on Tuesday.
The move raised eyebrows due to Bitcoin’s notoriously volatile price movements, with the currency losing 50% of its value between April and May of this year.
Swarm Markets claims to be the world’s first Regulated Decentralized Finance Protocol (DEFI) and has been licensed by BaFin, the German financial watchdog. The price of Swarm Coin, the exchange’s native token, has jumped 4.25% in the past 24 hours.
