In cryptocurrencies, Bitcoin prices were trading today with minor gains, with the most popular digital token surging more than 1% to $ 45,381. The world’s largest cryptocurrency by market cap has gained over 59% this year (year to date), although much lower than the record high of nearly $ 65,000 reached in April.

According to CoinDesk, Ether, the coin linked to Ethereum and the second largest crypto, rose 2% to $ 3,339. Meanwhile, dogecoin prices rose to $ 0.24 while Cardano slipped 4% to $ 2.46. Other digital tokens like XRP, Uniswap, Stellar, Litecoin, Polkadot have also surged in the last 24 hours while Solana, Binance Coin, Tether have plunged.

Bitcoin experienced a lightning crash last week as El Salvador’s deployment of the digital asset, as legal tender appeared to be hit by technical difficulties. It fell as much as 17% that day as the speed picked up as some 336,000 traders saw their accounts liquidated amid the decline.

El Salvador became the first country to adopt Bitcoin as legal tender, a development that many cryptocurrency fans saw as potentially leading to greater adoption and acceptance by the general public.

Meanwhile, a Bloomberg report said U.S. officials were discussing launching a formal review to determine whether Tether and other stablecoins threaten financial stability, a review that could lead to significantly increased scrutiny of a rapidly growing corner of the crypto market.

Additionally, this is a seasonally difficult time for the coin, over the past decade, September was the only month Bitcoin failed to generate positive returns. The token has fallen in the calendar month in six of the previous 10 years, losing more than 6% on average, according to data compiled by Bloomberg.
