Why NFTs, Crypto, and Blockchain Can Help E-Health Thrive

A medical ecosystem has revealed how it is disrupting the way patients are treated while ensuring that health data is used to its full potential.

Speaking in a ask me anything session with Cointelegraph, Aimedis said its cutting edge ecosystem is designed to benefit everyone.

Based on the blockchain, it aims to bring together a range of e-health applications including prescriptions, medical records, video chats, appointments and counter notices while allowing patients to connect smartwatches that store their data.

Aimedis also plans to transform anonymized medical data into NFT. This can then be purchased by pharmaceutical companies or used for machine learning, as artificial intelligence is increasingly used to deliver better patient outcomes.

Ben El Idrissi, COO and co-founder, said Aimedis was created out of necessity because he saw first-hand the issues plaguing the global health sector.

We deeply believe that the digitalization of healthcare has a huge benefit not only for those who work in space, but also for patients, he added.

Advantages

Michael J Kaldasch, co-founder of Aimedis who works as CEO, said a common question from the company has to do with why they are trying to bring everything together in one place.

In response, he says that healthcare IT is not like normal IT and it all has to come together, with one ID, one user interface, and one user experience.

He argued that separate apps based on a person’s condition simply wouldn’t work using a mall analogy that brings together a number of different brands.

The patient has their own access to their part of our blockchain, they can track exactly who accessed their data, who downloaded this PDF, who downloaded this x-ray, who accessed my emergency files and why this person has access to my files? It gives an extra level of confidence, he said.

Aimedis plans to transform medical data into NFT with a standardized structure and the platform will allow these tokens to be sold at a fixed price or at auction. It is hoped that this could open up new sources of income for patients, especially those in poorer regions.

AI will be the future not only in medicine, but in all industries. Machine learning always depends on high quality data. With these NFTs, we will have high quality data always in the same structure, reliable, he said.

There is an application for that

At the AMA, Aimedis executives were asked about Apple and Google, both of which have close relationships with end users through health apps offered on smartwatches and smartphones.

El Idrissi said he doesn’t believe these tech giants are a competitor. In fact, he imagines that in the future they could work with Aimedis or buy them out.

Kaldasch added that the services offered by Apple and Google are crucial at the moment, explaining: The health system is absolutely inadequate. Many people are not going to the hospital at the moment because they are afraid of getting infected with the coronavirus and they are staying at home but they are not in contact with the doctors. So what are you doing? We need services like Aimedis.

The company is also planning to launch a virtual hospital and rehabilitation, with a modern hospital information system less expensive than the status quo.

It will be fun to use. You see where the patient moves inside a hospital, you can see which bed the patient is in, Kaldasch said. This way the staff are always up to date. You can also assign tasks so that doctors and nurses receive messages on their smartwatches. This way you improve the patient journey a lot and involve the patient and their loved ones as they can connect and see what their care plan is.
